Mission

The underlying premise of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee of the Corcoran School of the Arts & Design is that an environment that embraces a diversity of identity and self expression will result in a stronger community and superior creative and scholarly output. The DEI Committee supports the cultivation of an academic, physical, and social space in which the exchange of perspectives and opinions and creative and scholarly processes can flourish  without diminishing difference and plurality of experiences. The committee contributes to the creation of an open and supportive environment for all students, staff, and faculty leading to a greater sense of belonging, mutual support, and shared purpose through.

  • programming that fosters dialogue and exchange
  • the sharing of resources
  • intentional mentoring
