Performance is at the heart of the programs of Music, Theatre and Dance — and sometimes even beyond. Our students in these programs have opportunities to perform with professionals in and outside of the Corcoran to further expand experiences. From roles on-stage and off, you have the chance to share performances and stories with audiences around campus.
Performance is a key area of study in our Bachelor of Arts in Theatre program. However, many students at GW, both enrolled in the program and not, find opportunities to participate and perform for audiences across campus.
Mainstage
At the core of our educational training are a wide variety of co-curricular performances and other special events, also known as the Mainstage. Our students produce, perform and manage the many details that go into successful theatre performances. Many of these performances are open to the general public as Season Productions.
There are countless performance opportunities on stage, in the museum, studio theatre, and site performances at GW through our Bachelor of Arts in Dance program. Students are encouraged in courses and outside courses to create original dances, both solo and group, for presentation throughout the year. Open auditions are held for dance students for international/national/local guest artists, faculty, and student choreographers.
