DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION (DEI) COMMITTEE
- Mission
The underlying premise of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee of the Corcoran School of the Arts & Design is that an environment that embraces a diversity of identity and self expression will result in a stronger community and superior creative and scholarly output. The DEI Committee supports the cultivation of an academic, physical, and social space in which the exchange of perspectives and opinions and creative and scholarly processes can flourish without diminishing difference and plurality of experiences. The committee contributes to the creation of an open and supportive environment for all students, staff, and faculty leading to a greater sense of belonging, mutual support, and shared purpose through.

- Who We Are
The Corcoran DEI committee is made up of volunteers from the Corcoran staff and full-time and part-time faculty from across Corcoran programs. The Deputy Director of the Corcoran always serves as a Co-Chair of the Committee along with one other member of the full time faculty (from a different Corcoran program). For the 2024-2025 academic year, the committee is:

2024 HORIZONS Social Justice Retreat Application & Upcoming Programs (MSSC)
The Office for Diversity, Equity and Community Engagement is thrilled to share the application for the 3rd Annual HORIZONS Social Justice Retreat!
HORIZONS is a four day, overnight, immersive social justice retreat that builds on the important legacy of student led change at GW. Participants will engage in interactive workshops, community building and post-retreat engagements to learn and develop skills for creating sustainable social change within the GW community and beyond. All transportation, lodging, meals and workshops are fully covered.
HORIZONS is open to all GW undergraduate students.
Students who are deeply interested in and/or have already begun organizing for social justice are strongly encouraged to apply.
Applications are due on Monday, October 21st by 11:59pm. All applicants will receive the results of their application no later than October 28th. Students who are asked to join the weekend retreat component are expected to attend a pre-retreat gathering on November 8th.
