Oral Presentation Guidelines for Students

Oral Presentation Requirement

As part of the Museum Studies MA and On-Campus Certificate Program, all students must complete an oral presentation about their required internship. This requirement applies to all students who entered the program in Fall 2013 or later and is mandatory for graduation.

Presentation Guidelines

  • Length: Presentations should be 7 minutes long, followed by 3 minutes for questions.
  • Visuals: Use PowerPoint or other visuals to support and enhance your presentation.
  • Content: In addition to summarizing your internship, consider discussing:
    • Key lessons learned
    • What worked well
    • Challenges you encountered
    • Insights that may help future interns

Format & Audience

  • Presentations will be held virtually, allowing students to share their work online.
  • You are welcome to invite your supervisor, family, and friends to attend.
  • Your presentation will be evaluated by a committee of one or two full-time Museum Studies faculty members using the Oral Presentation Rubric.
  • Other presenters and Museum Studies students may attend as observers.
  • The review committee will provide feedback via email, along with a pass/fail grade.
