Corcoran Student Workshops

A series of workshops designed to introduce students to the basics of installing exhibitions and to expand their professional "tool-kit." Open to undergraduate and graduate students!


101 Exhibition Tool-Kit __Workshop Series 

This series of short workshops is designed to prepare students with basic practical exhibition skills as they consider presenting work within school or after graduation. Workshops are designed within this series to be relevant and inclusive to all Corcoran programs including performing, research, and design based programs. No prior experience necessary!

We STRONGLY encourage all students participating in NEXT23 to attend either the fall or spring sessions.

February 3, 10, 24, 2023

Class One: AV/Tech led by James Huckenpahler and Brian Davis
Class Two: Hanging, Staging, & Mounting led by Daniel Jonas (NEW TIME: 10 a.m.–noon)
Class Three: Documentation & Lighting led by Kaitlin Jencso, and Ben Tankersley (NEW DATE & TIME ALERT: Friday, February 24 , 12:30-2:30pm)


Specialized Tool-Kit__Workshop Series 

This specialized workshop series is available to all Corcoran students to increase their professional tool-kit and provide outlets for deeper knowledge. Workshops are held at specific times throughout the fall and spring semester. Some workshops are required by specific programs. Please contact your program head for more information.

Curatorial Strategy & Audience Engagement

3D Modeling - Designer Toys
Led by David Ross

1:00-3:00pm

In this workshop, participants learn about the Designer Toy movement before 3D modeling their own character. Once complete, participants will learn how to 3D print these designs and walk away with a unique 3D printed character.


Professional Development Tool-Kit__Workshop Series

This series of short workshops is designed to prepare students with an opportunity to deepen their professional development as artists, researchers, designers, and cultural workers. Workshops are designed within this series to be relevant and inclusive to all Corcoran programs including performing, research, and design based programs.
