WBG Publications Marketing & Promotion

1. Background

The World Bank Group’s (WBG) knowledge and learning products, including its publications, provide the outside world with important insights into the Institution. The dissemination of knowledge and information on development is a core aspect of its business. World Bank publications are highly visible and a key component of the Institution’s brand; they are promoted and distributed worldwide commercially and on a complimentary basis. In support of the Program’s knowledge- sharing efforts, the consultant will work closely with the Publications Marketing Team in the Bank’s Global Corporate Solutions (GCS) Department and will collaborate with other publishing colleagues, authoring units, and partners, as needed.

 

2. Responsibilities

The consultant will be primarily responsible for:

E-mail Marketing Campaigns

  • Maintain the WBG publications e-newsletter channel.
  • Produce, design, and publish monthly newsletters and new publications announcements.
  • Optimize open rates, perform list hygiene, and report on results.
  • Track and provide regular updates on the results of online campaigns.
  • Apply editorial processes and approval workflows among content stakeholders in the
  • Publishing Program.

 

Digital Marketing and Promotion Channels

  • Amazon listing and information update for the WBG publications.
  • Conduct keywords marketing and report performances using Amazon Advertising platform.
  • Manage and update Amazon store; the WBG Publications dedicated website.
  • Set up Google AdWords campaigns, apply digital marketing strategy SEO (Search Engine
  • Optimization), and produce performance metrics.
  • Maintain WBG Publications YouTube channel and upload new video content.
  • GCS online bookstore: coordinate new publications files to be uploaded at the Bank’s online
  • bookstore, GCS’s Digital Store Front.

 

Promotional Materials Development

  • Design and produce marketing collaterals, including brochures, (e)-flyers, (e)-posters, banners, and other promotional materials.
  • Compose and edit content for various marketing and promotional materials as needed.
  • Produce publications catalogs.

 

Event Marketing and Coordination

  • Support the Program’s promotion events during the Bank’s Spring and Annual Meetings.
  • Coordinate (virtual) book launch events.
  • Develop event announcements, posters, execute campaigns, and provide post-event reports and follow-ups.
  • Provide support for team projects, outreach programs (internal and external), promotional events, conferences, exhibitions, and book fairs.

 

3. Selection Criteria:

  • Graphic design skills; proficient in Adobe Suite including InDesign, Illustrator, and
  • Photoshop; proficient in HTML and CSS; basic understanding of printing.
  • Familiarity with the Adobe Campaign digital marketing platform and web and social media
  • content; other multimedia marketing experience would be a plus.
  • Experience in Amazon Keyword Marketing and Analytics tool would be a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Sharepoint.
  • Strong written, editorial, and oral communications skills in English.
  • Sound knowledge of SEO and analytics tools for websites, Google, Amazon, and social
  • media.
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in Communications, Marketing, Publishing, or other
  • related fields.
  • Ability to prioritize, work well under pressure, and handle multiple tasks within tight
  • deadlines without sacrificing quality.

 

4. Others

o The position is for a renewable Short-term Consultant contract starting August 2021,

limiting up to 150 days (1,200 hours) per year.
o The consultant will be paid a Short-term Consultant rate commensurate with skills and

responsibility.
