Rhizome DC is a community space dedicated to art, activism, and community power. We provide a home for non-mainstream programming in DC's local artistic and cultural scene through new music, visual and performance art, experimental film/video, immersive theater, interactive installations, experimental poetry, creative workshops, youth programs, and more. Since opening in 2015 with just a small team of volunteers and a shoe-string budget, Rhizome has brought well over 1000 separate cultural and educational programs to our community, many featuring world-class touring artists, performers, and speakers from across the globe alongside some of the DC area's most unique and creative practitioners.

Rhizome's mission is to promote creativity as a force for personal empowerment and community engagement; to serve as a hub for people in the local community to connect around shared interests, passions, and curiosities; and to provide space and support for experimental and underrepresented arts, music, and culture in Washington, DC.
