Bio

Patrick Merrill is a pianist, organist, and harpsichordist based in Washington, DC, where he is active as a solo and collaborative keyboard recitalist, choral conductor, and educator. In addition to performing a wide variety of solo and ensemble repertoire, Dr. Merrill is a passionate practitioner and advocate of historical improvisation. Dr. Merrill completed his Doctor of Musical Arts in harpsichord performance at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, where he studied with Dr. Adam Pearl. In 2016, he won second prize at the eighth Mae and Irving Jurow International Harpsichord Competition. His chamber and continuo work includes performances with Washington Bach Consort, Pro Musica Rara, Tempesta di Mare, Handel Choir of Baltimore, the Bach in Baltimore series, Pressenda Chamber Players, and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. In addition to teaching at George Washington University, Dr. Merrill serves on the faculty at the Baltimore School for the Arts, and as the organist and choirmaster at St. Stephen Martyr Catholic Church in Washington, DC.
