The safety and care of all of our community is important to us. The GW COVID-19 website is also being updated regularly to include evolving guidance for the university community.
As of now, the Corcoran administrative offices will remain open over spring break, but the Smith and Flagg Building’s open hour studios will be closed beginning at the end of the day on Friday, March 13, 2020. Please check our studio pages for any ongoing updates.
For the time being, personal studio spaces remain open. Access to the studio labs is by appointment only. Contact [email protected] with requests or questions. Nevertheless, we encourage students to pick up everything they require for their work as soon as possible so that they don’t need to come in. If in the school facilities, be mindful to maintain social distance and avoid gathering in groups.
The Flagg Building is closed to the public as of Monday, March 16, and this includes the Brady Gallery. The 17th Street doors will be closed and students will have access through the side doors via G-World swipe. However, please exercise caution and don't come into the building if you are sick or unless necessary.
As President LeBlanc and the university have directed, we strongly encourage students who can go home for spring break to do so. After spring break, beginning Monday, March 23, Corcoran classes across all programs will move online, and they will remain online through at least April 5. No face to face classes can take place during this time. Please check the GW COVID-19 website for updates. You can also follow GW’s Facebook page as questions are being answered there.
Staff who would like to work remotely should do so in consultation with their manager. They will need to fill in this form and submit it to their manager: “Telecommuting Assessment and Agreement for COVID-19.” Faculty should communicate directly with their program head about their courses.
All planned events and exhibitions between now and April 5, 2020, have been postponed. For any programming affected, each program is coming up with contingency plans, and information on rescheduled events will be on the Corcoran events page.
We will receive guidance from the university by Friday, March 27, 2020 if remotely held classes and events will be held beyond April 5. We will also have more information about the plan around the NEXT exhibitions, opening night and performances by April 3, 2020. Please continue to check the GW COVID-19 website.
