Bio
Catherine Anderson has worked at several architecture & interior design firms during her career and now dedicates her time to educating students on understanding architectural concepts. In 2013, Professor Anderson participated with some of the Interior Architecture Program's students in the United States Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon. Along with The American University and CUA’s School of Architecture and Planning, they formed Team Capitol DC. They placed seventh overall in a field of competitors from the US, Austria, Canada and the Czech Republic.
Current Research
Currently, Professor Anderson is writing a book with Professor Stephanie Travis about understanding concepts in architecture through essays and analytical diagrams.
Distinctions
Prior to teaching, Professor Anderson worked at several architecture / interior design firms. While she was at BBGM, one of her projects was the Pentagon Library and Conference Center that won several awards including:
- Project of the Year - US Green Building Council-National Capital Region Chapter
- 2007 White House Closing the Circle Award - Sustainable Design - Construction at the Pentagon
- Best National Rehabilitation/Renovation/Restoration Project - National Design-Build Institute of America
For being the top-ranking graduate student at the School of Architecture and Planning at The Catholic University of America (CUA):
- Henry Adams Medal and Certificate
- awarded by the American Institute of Architects to the top-ranking graduate student from an accredited architecture program
