Bio
Hilary-Morgan Watt is an independent communications strategist with 18 years of experience leading national and global campaigns for museums, galleries, and nonprofits. A digital engagement pioneer at the Smithsonian Institution, she previously served as the inaugural Social Media Creative Strategist, Director of Digital Engagement at the Arts and Industries Building, Manager of Digital Engagement at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, and Social Media Manager at the National Museum of Natural History.
Ms. Watt is an Adjunct Professor at The George Washington University (GWU), where she teaches “Museums & Social Media” in the Graduate Museum Studies program. She has led digital strategy workshops and delivered guest lectures across the Smithsonian, the U.S. Department of State, Georgetown University, American University, and George Mason University.
With origins in both Montreal, Quebec, and the Pacific Northwest, she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in oil painting and ceramic sculpture from Southern Oregon University, followed by a Master’s in Museum Studies from GWU. She currently resides in Washington, D.C., where she serves on the board of Heard, an arts program for underserved communities, and volunteers with the Capital Pride Alliance and the D.C. chapter of Creative Mornings.
