Mara Kurlandsky
Bio
Mara Kurlandsky is an independent content producer and digital strategist for museums and cultural organizations. Previously, she was a Senior Web Producer at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and the first Director of Digital Engagement at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, where she led the museum’s award-winning #5WomenArtists campaign and a website redesign. Mara has also held roles at Gallagher & Associates, the National Museum of Natural History, and the National Library of Medicine.
At GW, Mara teaches Museums & Technology. She firmly believes that for museums to truly fulfill their missions, they must not only understand how their visitors use technology today but also foster digital literacy for all museum staff.
She earned her M.A. in Museum Studies from George Washington University and a B.A. from the University of Toronto, where she studied Jewish Studies, Art History, and Anthropology.
