Letter from the Provost: Corcoran Raises Tuition Rates for 2014-2015

April 24, 2014

Dear Corcoran Students and Parents:

In an effort to keep you up to date with current news, I am writing to let you know that the Corcoran College of Art and Design is raising its tuition rate next year, but only by a small margin. Because the Corcoran kept tuition rates frozen last year, this year's increase is a necessity in order to meet higher fixed costs and provide the intensely creative and individualized educational programming the Corcoran community has come to expect. Therefore, the Corcoran tuition rate for 2014-2015 will increase by 3% for undergraduates and 4% for graduate students.

This increase is in keeping with the public statements regarding the Corcoran's proposed GW collaboration.  We have said previously that current and newly accepted students for academic year 2014-2015 will pay tuition consistent with the Corcoran's current tuition, specifically noting that there may be annual increases reflecting inflation, cost of living, etc., and would not be paying GW-level tuition.  That remains true today.  The increase of 3% for undergraduate tuition and 4% increase for graduate tuition is consistent with that position.

Please know that we have every interest in making your financial arrangements as easy as possible here at the Corcoran, so please do not hesitate to reach out to me or my staff regarding questions or concerns you may have regarding this change. We are all here to help.

Should you have any questions, please contact members of our Financial Aid staff, Diane Morris at [email protected] (202-639-1816) or Elizabeth Eldridge at [email protected] (202-639-1851). For undergraduate admission issues, contact Brittney Stephenson at [email protected] (202-639-1825) and for graduate admission issues, Katherine Beczak at [email protected] (202-298-2550). I look forward to hearing how we can be helpful to you during this and other transitions this spring.
