Please save the date for Thursday, August 22 and Friday, August 23. We will be hosting a new student orientation for all incoming Corcoran graduate students along with a welcome reception to help kick off the new school year! Please check back for updates throughout the summer.

Overview for Thursday, August 22: Flagg Building, 500 17th Street NW

9:15 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.: New Graduate Student Orientation

Representatives from the Office of Graduate Studies, Writing Center, Gelman Library, and Career Services will join Kym Rice, Interim Director of the Corcoran School of the Arts for a welcome to GW and orientation of resources available to students. Following this session, each program will breakout by degree for an orientation session led by their graduate faculty advisors.

12:30 p.m. - 1:15 p.m.: Welcome Lunch

Join new Corcoran graduate students and faculty from across our graduate degree programs for a community lunch. 

Following the lunch, students from Art History, Decorative Arts & Design History and Museum Studies are invited to the GW Textile Museum for a tour and opportunity to hear from John Wetenhall, Director of the GW Museum.

Students from Exhibition Design, Fine Arts, Interior Architecture, Interaction Design, and New Media Photojournalism are invited to tour our studio facilities.


Overview for Friday, August 23

5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. : Scavenger Hunt

New graduate students are invited to explore our spaces throughout campus during our first-ever Corcoran Scavenger Hunt. The scavenger hunt will include stops at different program areas throughout the Foggy Bottom campus and you'll receive surprises along the way!

6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.: Welcome Reception

After the scavenger hunt, please join faculty and current graduate students for a reception to kick off the new school year. Location to be announced.
