Position Specific Summary:

The Cisneros Hispanic Leadership Institute draws on the intellectual strength of the George Washington University and the resources of the nation’s capital to conduct innovative research focused on the Latino community. Research produced by the Institute examines current issues facing Latinos in the United States and informs the development of the Institute’s student leadership programming.

 

The Institute seeks a graduate student in digital media or comms to help promote the exciting programming that the Cisneros Institute executes on a near-weekly basis, as well as to come up with innovative ways to share the stories and accomplishments of our Scholars.

 

Duties Include:

  • Analyze the existing Cisneros Institute media and communications strategy and share recommendations on ways to enhance and improve current practices
  • Manage the Institute’s social media accounts and collaborate with Cisneros Scholars to build out content and monitor the Institute’s digital brand.
  • Work with Institute staff to publicize, photograph and execute events and programming
  • Review and refine program language featured on our website and in written comms
  • Collaborate with the University Office of Media Relations to brainstorm ways to utilize
  • digital and print media to enhance the Institute’s public profiles
  • Work with Institute leadership to create communications templates for applying for
  • institutional, corporate, and individual fundraising support
  • Special projects or duties may be assigned related to specific office needs

 

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must be pursuing graduate study at G.W. and have at least 1 year experience managing comms or social media. Social media savviness is essential.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Bilingualism (Spanish-English), photography experience, graphic design skills, strong written communication skills, ability to multitask, demonstrated cross- cultural fluency, a strong interest in nonprofit work, and commitment to the Latino community.

 

Typical Hiring Range $17.50/per hour

Work Schedule: Flexible, but built around core operating hours, Mon - Fri 9am to 5pm Job Start Date: 08/31/2021
