Douglas Crawford

Bio

Douglas Crawford, AIA, NCIDQ, LEED AP BD+C, is an award-winning architect and Program Head of Interior Architecture at the Corcoran School of the Arts & Design, where his teaching and practice focus on the intersection of design and emerging digital methodologies. He has taught at GW since 2020 and previously at the University of Maryland's School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation, where he received the 2020 Outstanding Teaching Award. A founding member of GW's Trustworthy AI Initiative and its Generative AI Faculty Advisory Group, he has helped shape how generative AI is used in the design studio and across university teaching practice. In 2018 he founded his own architecture practice, Douglas Crawford Architect, in Washington, DC, after working as an architect at Perkins & Will and beginning his career as a designer at The Beck Group and The Walt Disney Company. He is a registered architect, a certified interior designer, and a LEED accredited professional, and has served as chair of the AIA|DC Emerging Architects Committee and on the AIA|DC Board of Directors.
