If you've ever wanted to learn computational and parametric design, but don't know where to start, this 1.5 day workshop is for you. Grasshopper for Rhino is a visual scripting program that can revolutionize your design process by opening up exciting and sophisticated avenues of design without requiring a background in computer programming. In Computation and Curation, you will design your own exciting and dynamic gallery display or installation for a small collection of artifacts or art. You will be guided through the whole process, starting with a demonstration that demystifies what Grasshopper even is, ending with an informal Sunday brunch presentation of the first project you designed with your new skills. In between, you will be guided through ideal workflows for using Grasshopper, Rhino, and advanced rendering engines (such as VRay or Cycles) to supercharge your design process without wanting to pull your hair out. Taught by award-winning educator, jewelry designer, and architect Duane McLemore (Founder X/0, Adjunct Professor Woodbury University LA), you will go through the entire computational design process from initial concept to final production-ready rendering or animation. All are welcome, zero advance knowledge of the softwares and techniques are necessary. Whether you are a student of Exhibition Design, Interaction Design, Curation; or even if you are just interested in what all the fuss is all about, this workshop is for you.
