Facilities Manager (PT)

Hourly rate: $25
Hours: Estimated 20-30 per week (9:00-1:00 M-F and as needed to meet with contractors)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the safety and security of the art collection, building, and grounds. They coordinate and supervise independent contractors and maintains required documentation of all work completed.

RESPONSIBILITIES include:

  • Security of Building and Artwork: Point of contact for issues and projects concerning safety and security of this Philip Johnson-designed building. Maintain timely communication with security company, first responders, and contractors and follow-up with necessary service checks and/or staff training. Ability to be on site as needed off hours (please note that the Museum is not easily accessible by public transportation).
  • Maintain and monitor all facility systems and equipment, resolving and elevating problems where and when appropriate.
  • Engage, serve as point of contact and oversee work performed by all contractors (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, atrium garden, irrigation and pool service, roof, structure). Maintain report/documentation for all completed work and provide reports as needed.
  • Plan and execute seasonal maintenance program to ensure proper care and functioning of museum related equipment; performing general repairs as needed.
  • Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
  • Ability to address day-to-day and long-term responsibilities independently.
  • General knowledge of security practices and procedures. Act as gallery security as needed.
  • Other tasks assigned by the Director.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in facilities management in an educational institution, art gallery, or museum.
  • Knowledge of OSHA preferred and working knowledge of A/V systems a plus.
  • Experience addressing and resolving issues that are potentially hazardous, or that may cause

loss to the museum.

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as necessary. Flex schedule as needed for the museum’s activities.
  • Ability to multitask; excellent organization and communication skills and ability to establish and adhere to project goals and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), conversational Spanish a plus.
  • Enthusiasm for working both independently and as a team.
  • Firm command and understanding of current best practices and enthusiasm for working in an art museum.
  • Willingness to contribute to a positive and collaborative culture that welcomes all audiences.
