Bio

Andrew Toy uses percussion as a starting point for composition and sonic exploration. In the studio and on stage, Andrew twists, distorts, and re-arranges the sound of the drums to create soundscapes that are both intense and atmospheric. By re-imagining instrument roles and creative processes, Toy has crafted a sound that combines the dynamic nature of acoustic drums with the endless possibilites of live sound design and automation. Toy's debut solo album "Guardrails" was released in 2021.

As a sideman and accompanist, Toy has performed extensively at home and abroad and has established himself as a go-to drummer and educator in the Washington DC area. More information may be found at www.andrewtoy.net.
