Laura Rivers, Associate Paintings Conservator at the J. Paul Getty Museum, discusses how scientific analysis, historic research, and artistic intent informed the understanding, interpretation, and exhibition of Jackson Pollock's seminal work, Mural.
Rivers will speak at the Corcoran's Hammer Auditorium on March 7 from 12:00 - 1:00 PM. In association with the lecture, Amber Kerr, Paintings Conservator, will host a behind-the-scenes tour of a paintings conservation laboratory at the Smithsonian American Art Museum on March 4, from 3:00 - 4:00 PM.
