Julia Klineberg

Biography

A native of Northwest D.C., Julia has been involved in the field of architecture for the past six years, working as a project manager in a professional practice and as a studio educator in academia. She is currently employed at Studio Mayd PLLC in D.C., where she and principal Lindsey May work to enhance the lives and daily spatial experiences of homeowners and small business owners through innovative and comprehensive design solutions. In addition to her professional work, Julia teaches fundamental design studios for undergraduates at the University of Maryland - College Park and serves as the faculty advisor for the Women in Architecture student group. Julia's unconventional background in music, studio art and art history has shaped her approach to design, and has informed how she conceptualizes and ultimately positions the intricate relationship between 2D representation of 3 dimensional space by means of the architecture drawing. Additionally, Julia is actively engaged in research that challenges traditional methods of accessible and inclusive design in the built environment. She explores the future role of architecture in supporting disabled, neurodivergent, and underrepresented communities, while advocating for mental health awareness and accommodations.
