Bio

Nelson Dougherty is a Washington, DC-based jazz guitarist, composer and educator. He finds the intersection between differing genres of music, often using guitar pedals to create vast soundscapes. He currently co-leads ¡FIASCO! which has released three albums, Arson (2020) and Post-Truth (2021) and Anger Artist (2024). The first two were #1 on Capitol Bop’s list Best D.C. Jazz Albums in their respective years. And the third album was released on Swiss label Unit Records.  Nelson’s collaboration with Saxophonist Tyler Cassidy, Tyson released Found Audio and Domestic Sunsets which explores ambient and soundtrack-like textures. His most recent project Dream Feeder, is a collaboration between saxophonist Brad Linde and drummer Keith Butler Jr. released their debut album Everything at Once on Bleebop Records in July of 2024. Each member contributes compositions that are individual and strong but still leaving room for the improvising spirit.
