Malik Burnett, a Washington, DC native, is the Program Manager for the Corcoran School / National Gallery Partnership and For Freedoms residency. Within this role, Burnett manages the newly established Civic Arts Lab which serves as an interdisciplinary lab for art, experimentation, and research. Burnett shepherds the National Gallery of Art/GW partnership as it relates to programming, exhibitions, visiting artists in establishing the growth of the program.
Prior to joining the Corcoran, Malik served as the Assistant Manager for Dance Programming at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and as the Dance Coordinator and Program Facility Manager for the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission. Burnett holds a BFA in Dance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and an MA in Arts Management from American University.
