Bio

Kathryn Speckart is an attorney and former museum curator and collections manager. She spent much of her museum career with the U.S. Department of State's National Museum of American Diplomacy building, preserving, and exhibiting a new collection of diplomatic history artifacts. Kathryn also worked at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

At GW, Kathryn teaches Museums and the Law, a class that merges her two professional interests. Kathryn hopes that the next generation of museum professionals will not end up in textbooks as case studies in how not to manage a museum.

She earned her J.D. from the Columbus School of Law, Catholic University of America and her M.A. in Museum Studies from The George Washington University.
