Jeremy Koch
Bio
Jeremy P. Koch is a saxophonist, chamber musician, educator, and arts administrator in the Washington D.C. area. He is former principal saxophonist and section leader of the United States Air Force Band and has been a featured concert soloist on countless national tours and international conferences. Jeremy has been privileged to perform for the highest levels of government leadership, including the last five U.S. Presidents, numerous international Heads of State, senior government and military officials at the White House, US Capitol, Arlington Cemetery, and the Pentagon. With the USAF Band, he has also performed with diverse artists such as: Tony Bennett, Wynonna Judd, and Kool & the Gang.
As a freelance saxophonist, Jeremy has performed at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Chicago's Orchestra Hall, the Kennedy Center, among many others. He regularly performs with the National Symphony Orchestra, Kennedy Center Opera Orchestra, Atlantic Reed Consort, New Orchestra of Washington, RPS Collective, Fairfax Symphony Orchestra, Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Two Rivers Chamber Ensemble, and has twice toured Israel-Palestine with the Al Kamandjâti-Ramallah Orchestra.
Committed to teaching, he regularly presents educational clinics, coachings, and lessons to students ranging from 5th grade, high school, and college, to those preparing for professional auditions. He is lecturer of saxophone and chamber music at George Washington University, adjunct professor of saxophone at Shepherd University and maintains a private teaching studio in Bethesda, Maryland. In addition, he has presented over 40 saxophone and chamber music masterclasses at top-tier music universities and conservatories across the nation to include the Eastman School of Music, Cincinnati College-Conservatory, and Northwestern University.
A proponent of new music, Jeremy has premiered solo, saxophone quartet, reed quintet, and concerto works at numerous conferences of the World Saxophone Congress, North American Saxophone Alliance, International Saxophone Symposium, International Double Reed Society Conference, and the American Composers Forum. He can be heard on countless recordings with the United States Air Force Band, including the 2018 premiere recording of Joel Love’s Saxophone Concerto: Solace.
Jeremy holds a Bachelor of Music Performance from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and received a Master of Music Performance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His teachers include Debra Richtmeyer, Jonathan Helton, Michael Chesher, Jean-Marie Londeix at Le Domaine Forget.
As an arts administrator, Jeremy was appointed the Manager of Guest Artist Relations for the USAF Band and has directed collaborations with celebrated artists from across the musical spectrum to include, Christopher Jackson, Megan Hilty, Joshua Bell, Anthony McGill, Chris Potter, Maria Schneider, Chris Janson, and Kellie Pickler, among many others. Previously, he managed, developed, and curated chamber music programs for the USAF Band at the Smithsonian American History Museum, National Gallery of Art, National Archives, Kennedy Center, and Alexandria’s Lyceum.
