The Corcoran School of the Arts and Design is proud to congratulate Andrea Dietz, head of the Design program, on the release of her co-authored book, The Organizer’s Guide to Architecture Education (Routledge, 2024). Dietz and her fellow authors are currently on a book tour in Los Angeles, hosting a series of public events that bring their collective work to new audiences.
Rooted in their collaboration through the Architecture Lobby’s Architecture Beyond Capitalism (ABC) School, the book introduces organizing—movement building and advocacy—as a vital framework for rethinking architecture education. It’s both a critique of the profession’s limitations in addressing today’s social and environmental crises, and a call to action for educators and students alike to build a more engaged and equitable field.
The LA book tour marks a special milestone: the first time all seven authors are gathering in person to share their work and vision. The schedule includes student and public events at Cal Poly Pomona and Woodbury University:
- Monday, April 21 at 12 p.m. – Student Conversation at Cal Poly Pomona College of Environmental Design
- Tuesday, April 22 at 6 p.m. – Public Lecture at Woodbury School of Architecture
- Wednesday, April 23 at 12 p.m. – Organizing Workshop at Woodbury School of Architecture
Congratulations to Andrea Dietz and her co-authors on their contribution to the future of architectural practice and education.
