Colin Wise
Bio
Colin Wise is an active trombonist and educator in the Washington, DC area. He holds a dual Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music in Trombone Performance and Jazz Studies and Contemporary Media, along with a Master of Music degree from Rice University's Shepherd School of Music. His primary teachers have included David Waters, Mark Kellogg, John Marcellus, Per Brevig, Jay Friedman, Joey Sellers, and Mark Bettcher.
Colin's experience as a trombonist spans a wide variety of classical, jazz, contemporary, and chamber music. He has had the privilege of regularly performing and recording with many major symphony orchestras including those in Rochester, Buffalo, Houston, San Antonio, Baltimore, and Washington, DC. He currently performs as Principal Trombonist in the United States Navy Band. As an educator, he served previously for 12 years on the faculty of the Sunderman Conservatory at Gettysburg College. He has also presented clinics and masterclasses across the country for students ranging from elementary school to top music schools, along with performing as a featured soloist on numerous occasions domestically and abroad with the Navy Band.
