Please encourage your students to send in an application for the WINSTON ART SCHOLARSHIP and the FRANK WRIGHT AWARDS IN ART 2022.
If your students are not actually in school or college at present due to the pandemic, we hope many students might enjoy doing some art even if at home with limited supplies/materials. Art can be a relaxing pastime and this opportunity might give them something creative to focus on to take away stress. Remember the art must be in 2-D. The application is online, so it should not take much of their time.
Attached you will find
1. The Instructions/Requirements for the 2022 WINSTON ART SCHOLARSHIP which is open for artists between the ages of 16 and 22 years. Awards will be divided into two categories: 16-18 yrs and 19-22 years.
Past winners of the National Winston Art Scholarship are eligible to apply as long as they are within the age range.
2. The APPLICATION FORM and the REQUIREMENTS for the Winston Art Scholarship/Frank Wright Award (same form) are attached. Please read them carefully.
3. Most likely, you fall into the Washington DC Metro catchment area, but if you are not based in either Washington DC, Maryland or Northern Virginia there may be another NSAL Chapter to which you can apply. See details on The Requirements. This year we will also accept applications from North and South Carolina, Delaware and the whole of Virginia.
Teachers - please share this information with your students as soon as possible. This is a great chance for future or specialized study either in the summer vacation or to go towards college expenses. Together, there is $18,000 available in awards for special tuition or towards college tuition. The Frank Wright Awards will be for two winners, one in each age category and the Washington Chapter of NSAL offers up to seven runners up between the WA Scholarship and FW Award programs.
THE DEADLINE FOR RECEIVING ENTRIES IS TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 1ST, 2022 by 5 pm EST. The application is the same for the WA and FW.

We look forward to receiving applications. This is a great opportunity and in 2018 and 2019, the highest awardees, Pearson Chambers and Julia Gould (local and National 1st place winners of the Winston Art Awards presented their work at the National NSAL Conference. In 2021, the top Winston Art Awardee was also studying in Maryland.)
