Bio

Awyn Rileybird (they/them) is a textile conservator and researcher focused on advancing heritage care through scientific analysis and collaborative outreach. They hold a Master of Science from the Winterthur/University of Delaware Program in Art Conservation with a specialization in textiles. They also hold a Master of Letters in Technical Art History from the University of Glasgow, where they were the recipient of a US-UK Fulbright award.

Rileybird has over a decade of conservation experience, working closely with conservators specializing in paper, objects, paintings, textiles, and preventive care. Rileybird has worked with smaller historical societies, mid-size collections, and larger museums including the US Holocaust Memorial Museum, the National Museum of the American Indian, the National Museum of African American History and Culture, and the Rijksmuseum.
