Dear Students, Teachers, Parents, Friends,
Winter Break might be a good time to sit down with a cup of hot chocolate and use your creativity skills (or those of your students, children or friends) to put together 5 works of art from your or their portfolio and send in your application for THE WINSTON SCHOLARSHIP 2020. The deadline is Saturday February 1st, 2020 but once the holidays are over, on January 2nd there will be less than a month left before the deadline and students no doubt will have numerous demands upon their time. Please take advantage of this opportunity for further study in art.
- The Requirements for the 2020 WINSTON ART SCHOLARSHIP. If you fall outside the age range, or it is not within your artistic expertise, but you know someone who might be interested in applying, please forward this e mail on to them. Thank you.
Past winners of the National Winston Art Scholarship are not eligible to apply but all applicants, including those who received Honorary Mention from NSAL- DC in past years, who did not get a National Winston Art Scholarship from previous years, may apply as long as they are with the age range. It may be worth trying again!
- The Application Form for the Winston Art Scholarship is attached.
- Chapter Contact List. Most likely, you or your students fall into the Washington DC Metro catchment area, which includes Northern Virginia and Maryland but I am also attaching a list of The National Society of Arts and Letters' Chapter Chairs for the Winston Art Scholarship around the United States, in case you or anyone you know, falls under another Chapter's region. If you have any questions on this, please e mail me.
Teachers and Professors - please share this information with your students as soon as possible. This is a great opportunity for future or specialized study either in the summer vacation or to go towards college expenses. There is up to $12,000 available in awards
THE DEADLINE FOR RECEIVING ENTRIES IS SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 1ST, 2020 at 5 pm.
THIS YEAR WE ARE ACCEPTING ONLINE APPLICATIONS (see instructions on the WA Requirements) However, the two winners who are selected to have their application sent on to the National Winston Art Scholarship will have to mail to me a flash drive with their five art works, application form and copy of their US birth cert/naturalization cert/US passport. All details are in the Requirements.
Please encourage all artists to apply! Your suggestion could be a great holiday gift! We look forward to receiving your applications. Try not to leave it too late! This is a great opportunity. The highest awardees of both the 2018 and 2019 Winston Art Scholarships were from the Washington DC Chapter and presented their work at the National NSAL Conferences.
If you have any questions, please e mail me at [email protected]
We are NSAL-DC wish you all a wonderful holiday season and best wishes for 2020.
