This position is for a museum database cataloger. This position will be performing standardized data clean up on the database records of objects being photographed. This includes some primary source file research on objects, helping to refine our standard data entry protocols, and actually flagging object records to launch online on the museum's new public collections database. The student would get great museum database experience working in our system, called MuseumPlus. The objects that the student would focus on are textiles from the museum's Eastern Hemisphere collections: objects from Central Asia, South, Southeast, and Far East Asia, Africa, and Islamic/Coptic archaeological textiles.

  • 16 hours per week (must commit 2 full days - no partial days)

This position is for an object handler to stage objects during photo shoots. This work involves pulling objects with collections staff, staging them and ensuring they are presented appropriately, recording their photography in the database and in tracking spreadsheets, and re-housing objects after shoots to be put away. This is rather physical work so the student should be able to squat, bend, and climb. The student will get hands-on experience with objects, as well as database experience working in our system, called MuseumPlus. The student would get to handle textile objects from around the world.
