Maria Habib is a multidisciplinary designer and educator. She is the founder of DesignMa, a creative practice prioritizing collaboration, experimentation, and play. Maria is currently serving as Wernick-Richman Professor in Professional Practice at the Corcoran School of the Arts + Design. She has a long history at the Flagg Building, first as a student and then as Director of Design for nine years. During that time, she also spearheaded the DesignLab curriculum providing students with the opportunity to create the identity for the annual NEXT exhibition. For the past six years she has been teaching in various capacities as adjunct professor at MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art), with a current focus on graduate level transmedia typography. Maria has a rich background spanning eighteen years across the industry including leading roles as Designer at MEMAC Ogilvy in Beirut, Lebanon, Senior Designer for Freedom by Design in Washington DC, and Creative Director for the Strategic Innovation Group of Booz Allen Hamilton. Her interests and expertise center around identity, space, and experience design. Her work has received awards from The Art Director’s Club, AIGA, SEGD, UCDA, and HOW magazine.
