Helen Bechtel is an architect and independent curator. She has practiced architecture at firms in New York and Washington, D.C. as well as worked in the curatorial departments of design at SFMOMA and the Cooper-Hewitt.


Current Exhibitions and Position

Bechtel recently served as a Guest Curator at the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery, where she organized the 2017-18 exhibition and installation “Parallax Gap” by FreelandBuck.  She currently acts as the Curatorial Consultant to the Smithsonian Arts & Industries Building.  



Bechtel received her Masters in Architecture from Yale University in 2010, and her BA at Stanford University in Urban Studies.
