Ashley Givens is a curator and academic with expertise in nineteenth and twentieth century art. Professor Givens has held recent curatorial roles at The Kreeger Museum and the National Gallery of Art in addition to working closely on the art collection of the MGM National Harbor.  Prior to moving to Washington D.C., she worked for a number of years as a curator in the photographs department of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London (V&A). Professor Givens earned her M.A. and Ph.D. at the Courtauld Institute in London under the supervision of John House where she researched the range and dissemination of images of Emperor Napoléon III. She is currently writing an article on mosaic cartes de visite and is hoping to conduct a comprehensive research project on the painter Carolus-Duran.

She is currently teaching AH 3143 - Early 20th Century Art.
