National Portfolio Day

Each year, the National Portfolio Day Association holds undergraduate and graduate National Portfolio Days across the country. These educational events for emerging artists bring together students and experienced college representatives who review artwork, offer critique, discuss college plans and share information about their programs.

National Portfolio Day is not an examination or a competition. Reviewers look forward to seeing students' work and providing them with helpful information for the next important step in their education. A portfolio review takes approximately 15 minutes.

Participation gives students a taste of what it is like to attend a professional art program. Students should keep in mind that they may hear many different opinions about their work, but will have the opportunity to explain their creative thought process and how they would like their work to progress.

Pre-Register

National Portfolio Days are free, open to the public and do not require registration, however, pre-registration is open for this event and will make your check-in process faster on the day of the event.

What to Bring

Students should bring original artwork when possible. These can include sketchbooks, works in progress and what are considered the best finished pieces. We suggest that you do not spend time and money matting or framing your work. If the artwork is large, three-dimensional or otherwise hard to carry, we suggest that students bring photographs of the work instead. Students may bring their own laptop or tablet; school representatives will not have laptops available to view images online or stored on a flash drive. Be sure your devices are fully charged!

If you have questions about what materials to include, registration, or simply need more information, check the NPD FAQs page or contact us!
